Creating Assessments

Assessment using Worksheets

1) First: Sign up for a GMAIL account.  Go to www.google.com and clicking on GMAIL.  Just follow the guidelines from there.



Post any documents  you create to your website.

GOING TO THE DOCUMENT CREATION MENU:

Once you have create the GMAIL account, look for the GRID. That is the 9 Square ICON in the UPPER RIGHT HAND CORNER next to YOUR NAME. Choose it. A pull down menu will appear on your screen.

Choose DRIVE. That will be the GREEN YELLOW AND BLUE TRIANGLE. This will take you to the DOCUMENT CREATION MENU

CREATE THE DOCUMENT:

Click on the the RED NEW BUTTON. A pull-down menu will show the choices.  Choose MORE to use
GOOGLE FORMS. Give the document a name in the UNTITLED FORMS field. I also use HELP TEXT for HINTS.  Look to the right and click on the TRASH CAN for anything you want to delete.

CREATE THE NAME FIELD:

From the menu bar, choose INSERT, TEXT. in the UNTITLED QUESTION field, write the word NAME. The field

CREATE THE QUESTION: 

CREATE THE QUESTION: In the QUESTION TITLE option type the question text. Help Text is where you have hints.

QUESTION FORMAT CHOICES: In the QUESTION TYPE option
I like Text, Paragraph Text and Multiple Choice and Choose from a list for 50/50 format. 

CREATE A KEY:


The VIEW LIVE FORM option at the top of the menu bar form will allow you to see what you have created.  Take the test yourself and SUBMIT the name as KEY for answers.



Have a website. 
 
GETTING THE WEBLINK FOR THE DOCUMENT for your website:

FILE, SEND FORM, (Check the Short URL makes it shorter) and you can COPY IT and paste it into your WEBLINK features in your websites. Click DONE to finish.

The students will enter the answers from the LIVE FORM. 

VIEWING STUDENT RESPONSES:

In the DESIGN MODE, click on the VIEW RESPONSES option. It uploads the questions to a spreadsheet that Google keeps for you.  As the student submits their answer it maintains a cache to receive their answers for your later viewing.

GRADING:

Let the students submit their answers. Google will collect them into the spreadsheet in GOOGLE SHEETS. Upload the answers to EXCEL for grading.

Excel:

Do FILE, DOWNLOAD AS, MICROSOFT EXCEL SPREADSHEET to do calculations with formulas in Excel.  The formula should read

=AVERAGE(cell#...cell#)

Put this formula in an empty dedicated column to answers.  Good luck!
